High Scores Interactive Arcade Museum

Hello and welcome to the web home of High Scores Interactive Arcade Museum.

We are a new business, located on inviting High Street in historic Burlington City, New Jersey. We feature 25 classic arcade games from the 1970's and 1980's. Many adults out there can't remember the last time they walked into a dimly-lit room and rocked a game of Asteroids and set a high score. We want to recreate that experience for those of us who've missed it: our long list of games (see the "about me" section) feature some of the best of the best - Donkey Kong, DK Jr, Joust, Centipede, Paper Boy, Jungle King, Burger Time and more.

Speaking of the best of the best...we're looking for some visitors to come down and set some high scores to bring down the "house scores" - currently just ours, owner/operators Shawn and Meg. Its free to enter and all games are set to quarter play (mix of 25 cents and 50 cents) - and yes, we have a change machine :)

While we don't serve food, feel free to come hungry. We are only steps away from awesome pizza, world-class ice cream, American (Legends Pizza, Geneva's Family Restaurant) Italian (Francesca's), Creole, and Chinese (Panda Restaurant) cuisine all on our same block. If you're here and celebrating an event, we have fine dining overlooking the river at Cafe Gallery Restaurant. For those that have seen your 21st birthday come and go, we have some great bars to choose from within walking distance, like Legends Tap, Geraghty's Pub, and Curtin's Wharf Marina Restaurant . If you have to take a break to walk off a bad game, walk a block to the Burlington River Promenade offering some sweet views of the Delaware River. If you want to make a weekend out of putting your gaming skills to the test, we recommend a stay at The Lily Inn, also on High Street. When you awake and you need the kick in the arse of some good coffee and baked goods, walk half a block to My Sticky Bunns.

For those that don't drive, we're half a block from the Burlington Town Centre station of NJ Transit's Riverline. We're also the same distance from the NJ Transit bus routes, and for those of you visiting us on the open road, GPS yourself to 348 High Street, Burlington, NJ 08016.

We will be opening in August, 2010. We just got approved in our town, and just need for the final t's to be crossed and lower-case j's to be dotted.

Our hours through September 7 will be:
Wednesday & Thursday 4 - 9 pm
Friday & Saturday 12 - 9 pm
Sunday 10 am - 3 pm

We'll update the page with our official "NOW OPEN" announcement. Thanks for visiting!

High Scores Approved to Open!

Hello all....

For those that don't know, the idea of opening an "arcade" scares some people in a close knit community, who only really remember arcades in their heyday that invited crowds of kids. Shawn and I have been working on getting our business, High Scores, approved in our town since April. We've had to meet a lot of new folks - having to secure the signatures of all landowners within 200' of our property in a 4 day span, and got to know other business owners, too. It was a fairly uphill battle, with a lot of people warning us that the town will be resistant to the idea of an arcade in our historic district.

Alas, tonight we argued our case for an Interactive Vintage Arcade Museum - a stipulation of our opening is that 90% of our collection must be at least 20 years old, so being classic heavy is a good thing for us here. At last, we were approved unanimously by the board that we can open our doors to the public!

So High Scores will be officially opening next week...there are still some things to finalize, like getting our sign outside posted and some finishing touches, but the games will be on and ready for you all to set some high scores!

Thank you all for your support - we hope to see you soon!
